CR will need to regain the focus that was displayed leading into the CH match last round if we are to perform at our best leading into our last couple of matches for the League season. Unfortunately last weeks match v Havies was a disappointment as far as not achieving our main goal of gaining maximum points. Having only scored 7 tries and not reaching the 10 tries goal that was set prior to the match means that we move into the final 3 matches with a win and 4 try lead instead of having a win and 7 try lead. The players are disappointed that they did not make the most of the opportunity and so are the coaching staff. Too many times players were over the line only to drop the ball or lose control of the ball in crucial try scoring situations.
Our Forwards are looking to keep their form into the final 3 matches of the league and know too well that CH have a dominant set of forwards that can turn the game in their favour. They are boasting the majority of the Sri Lanka starting pack and our players will have to put on a display that rocked the CH pack last time we met. Our rolling mauls are a special but are very taxing on the players energy during a game but they can win matches for us and the players love to assert their superiority by using them regularly, no team has had an answer to them yet.
The back division can't be happy with their performance last week and are hell bent on regaining the form that has seen them be the best backline in the competition. A scrappy performance last week will hopefully be a wake up call for all players and be the motivation to right the ship this week in what will be another crucial match for the CR & FC team. The goal this week is to tighten our play up so that we get back to ensuring that we set the base from which the team can then implement some open fast rugby. Controlling the game via maintaining the possession and achieving good continuity will win us the league trophy and this will be out main focus this week.
Our defence is once again our rock and we only conceded 3 points via penalty goal and the Havies team did not look like penetrating our defence at any stage. Our defensive record is now only 43 points conceded in 10 games so we are doing something right here. Maintaining this record for the last 3 games of the league will be tough as we face more capable sides. 3 big matches remain and the support from the members and spectators has been greatly appreciated during the season and we look forward to seeing a big crowd for the CH and Army matches.
