Following the 3 week break from matches this week will be a welcomed hit out against the Air Force team at Longdon Place . The past couple of weeks has seen us without up to 13 players at regular training due to Sri Lanka national commitments and congratulations to all who made the squad and especially the ones who made it through to the final 25. Although we had so many faces missing we were still able to field 25+ regulars at training and due to the void left by the National match v Thailand we were able to play and interclub 12 aside match so they players had some contact work and this also assisted in keeping the match fitness at an appropriate level.

Air Force have been traveling well this year and have had a couple of unlucky losses and will need to be dealt with early in the game to stop their vigorous style of play. They are a team that if given the opportunity will play it wide and always look to play quickly from the breakdown. They are a young and fast side that we will have to contain and ensure they do not put a try against us.

I feel our scrum will destroy them early in the fray and this will set a nice platform for our backs to attack from. Out lineout too will provide a good platform to get wide and unleash our backs who I feel will be too strong and fast for the Air Force players. We will also need to ensure that the old habit of taking the first half to get going is eradicated in this game as we will need to have good from leading into out big matches in coming weeks.

Our defence this week will be unforgiving and I really feel that there will be some dominant tackling and big hitting in the backs and forwards. We have set out team a goal off having a clean sheet with no tries and we will be working hard early in the week to ensure our defence is solid and remain the best defensive team in the comp, ancillary to this we will be looking to reach a good score over the 50 point mark if we can this game as we would dearly love to be ahead of the enemy leading into out next matches.
