Time To Go To The Polls

The Sunday Observer “Favourite Rugger Team” and “Favourite Rugger Player” voting is underway and we want supporters of the Red Shirts to show their support by swelling the voting count in favour of our players.

All players are listed in the team page and forms are available in the Sunday Observer and also in the Monday editions of some papers too. There will surely be some players who will feature in the voting from CR with veterans Rodrigo,Viraj,Naufer and co leading the way with the support of their friends and family.

The young guns of Sherrif, Anuja, Karthelis will also be favourites to edge out the opposition as they have gained many supporters already following their exceptional performances in the early stages of the season. Another young player who is larger than life literally, our giant lock Hasitha Perera is also a club favourite who himself has already won the hearts of the supporters with his barnstorming runs and tough play. The big fellow is currently out of action and should feature in the upcoming match against the Park Club on July 2nd.

“Double Trouble”, the Swarnatilike twins (Podi and Loku), could steal the show and runaway with the voting as they too, excuse the pun, are gaining celebrity status around town and love to entertain on the field by bumping off would be tacklers and becoming known as the club enforcers on the field. Former Police player and now permanent fixture for CR, Anarudah Dharmatilike played an outstanding match for Sri Lanka against Thailand last weekend and has let his playing ability do the talking on the fieild. He is an outstanding signing for the club and at the ripe old age of 20 will surely be an asset to the club for many years to come. A Sri Lanka 7's representative in 2004 to add to his credentials.

Make your vote count, look for your voting coupons in this weekends Sunday Observer.
