In an entertaining match, which unfortunately at times was affected by poor decisions by the match officials, was fitting for a final and the crowd were appreciative of the high intensity spectacle. CR pocket dynamo Pushpakumara stamped his authority on the match crossing the line on two occasions and being virtually unstoppable in attack. Adding to his bag of tricks he was also observed giving constructive advice to some over confident CH defenders on his way to the tryline.
In a game of sevens making man on man tackles is key and the CR defensive efforts were a highlight of the three finals matches. Special mention again to Suranga Pushpakmara who was a fortress at the back in the final. The lead changed hands on several occasion with CH leading for the majority of the match. CR powered home backed by a timely intercept by Anushka Perera on the half way line and just managed to make the tryline after almost being chased down by the CH defence. The try converted, CR hung on to seal the match by 19 – 17. All players performed well during the final matches with Zulker, Karthelis, new recruit Dinesh Kumar and Sherrif adding to the outstanding performance of Pushpakumara. |
